Dogs that are new to daycare typically need an adjustment period. Some dogs need longer periods of time than others. I recommend daycare for at least 10 days within a 3–4-week period in order to get the dogs comfortable in their surroundings. The more often he comes the better. If your dog absolutely decides daycare is not the choice for him, then we can arrange private 30-minute walks at his home.
The amount of time your dog spends outside is entirely flexible and up to you. Although dogs have full use of the backyard, We offer personal walks in addition to a variety of play group options where your dog can interact with other social dogs. Play group options include a one hour play period, a half day play period (2-3 hours) and full day plays where your dog is outside in the morning for 2-3 hours, comes inside for a rest and goes back out in the afternoon for another 2-3 hours.
No, all dogs have use of the full home. Unless requested by the owner, pets will have acess to the whole home area. No crates are used. Dogs will have their own individual area to rest, relax and eat. This prevents the possibility of fighting during feeding time and ensures your dog can enjoy their meal without having to worry about other dogs stealing it. This also allows your dog to bring their own bed, blankets and toys; making their stay more comfortable and familiar while protecting them from other dogs that could bully them for their possessions. When your dog is tired and wants to sleep they can do so without being pestered or interrupted by other dogs trying to engage them
First and foremost, please bring your completed client application and agreement. This will be kept on file for future services. Please ensure you advise of any changes so the pets file can be kept up to date with current information. We provide beds and blankets for your pet while in our care, however you are welcome to bring the dogs personal bed. You will also have to bring their food with specific feeding instructions, toys, leashes and anything else you feel will make your pet more comfortable when being away from their natural environment.
All dogs that attend Dog Tired are processed through an extensive application and assessment screening process. However, fights occasionally occur when the excitement levels get too high or playing too rough. Your dog may still encounter minor scrapes from rough play. A dog who repeatedly fights is not a good candidate for daycare. We want to encourage balanced behavior for the pack.
Absolutely! Feel free to call anytime. Additionally, join our Facebook Page for daily photos! You will see how much fun your fur kid is having.
If we suspect your dog is ill, we will contact you and or your emergency contacts that were provided on your application. If a dog is injured, we will tend to the injury as quickly as possible. If we deem necessary, your dog will be taken immediately to a veterinarian. We will try to accommodate your requested veterinarian; however, we reserve the right to choose an emergency or local vet of our choice.
Our boarding facility is completely climate controlled (heating and air-conditioning). Although we cannot control the outdoor area we monitor the weather closely to ensure the conditions are safe for your dog to be outside.
To ensure the safety of your pet we offer three separate entrance points to our property including two side gates. One gate offers a gradual decline for those senior or mobility challenged pets, and the other offers regular long steps for those dogs that are easily excitable and want to gain access to the yard quickly. We have fire and carbon monoxide detectors on all levels of the home. We have a generator to ensure our home has air conditioning and heat in case of a power outage. Our fences are constantly checked for points of escape. Our premises are monitored personally. Finally, the owner lives on site and we ensure someone is always present (24 hours a day / 7 days a week).
Your dog will need a DHPP vaccination, which is a combination of four vaccines given to puppies that protects against dystemper, hepatitis, parvo virus and parainfluenza virus. Your dog will also need a Rabies vaccination and a Bordetella vaccination.
